Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
INDICATIONS
Loose or sagging breast tissue from past pregnancies, genetics, aging or weight loss
Loss of the breasts' youthful shape and firmness
Enlarged pigmented areas around the nipples (nipple-areolar complex)
INTENDED RESULTS
An elevated, more youthful breast contour
Nipple-areolar complexes of the desired size and height
PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION
This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation.
The design of the incisions varies, but usually includes incisions around the areola from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease under the breast, and in the crease under the breast.
The nipple is repositioned higher, the excess skin is removed, and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour with a more normal position.

RECUPERATION AND HEALING
The patient goes home in a bra and ace wrap with light dressings over the incision lines. The bra is worn as a
"dressing" for a few weeks.
Sutures are usually removed in 7 to 14 days.
Initial discomfort is controlled with oral pain medications.
Light activities may be resumed in 7 to 10 days.
Aerobic activities or intimate contact can be resumed in a few weeks, as healing progresses.
INSURANCE GUIDELINES
Breast lifts are considered cosmetic procedures and are not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment.
